1358646 2013-11-04 00:21:00 what happens if the printer is already connected and turned on first, then turn on the Computer ??

Could be a power surge from the printer Via the USB ports causing it to crash.

1358647 2013-11-04 00:27:00 Get this wee utility called who crashed (www.resplendence.com) and it will tell you in simple and easy to understand language what is causing the crashes bevy121 (117)
1358648 2013-11-04 02:52:00 MSE's full scan has detected no threats.

BSOD says: A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. An attempt was made to execute non-executable memory. Check if any new hardware or software is properly installed. If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart computer, press F8, select Advanced Startup Options and select Safe Mode.

Ok, I have no new hardware. I haven't changed the Brother driver software and when the problem arose I've just reinstalled the driver from the Brother website. The only new software I have is Adobe Digital Editions 2.0 in addition to the updates of existing software.

Could the source of problem be Adobe Digital Editions 2.0? Any help appreciated.

1358649 2013-11-04 02:56:00 @ wainuitech: I've tried this without any success. Thanks.

@ bevy121: I might try this if my previous post doesn't lead to any positive solution. Thanks.

1358650 2013-11-04 03:02:00 After you try those suggestions maybe try other USB ports if you haven't already, try the printer on another computer if you can, rollback the USB driver or remove and reinstall it. You say months, I take it the printer is reasonably new? If it is and doesn't work on someone elses computer do a warranty claim. Good Luck.

edit: Missed a few posts. After reading those it might be worth trying a system restore back to before the crashes and Uninstall the Adobe software to eliminate it.

1358651 2013-11-04 03:13:00 An attempt was made to execute non-executable memory That could be a hint.

Download Memtest From Here (www.memtest86.com) Get the one for a bootable CD, burn the ISO using what ever ISO software you have, boot from that CD, let it run, if anything shows in RED you have faulty memory. Sometimes it will take overnight to run even though it may say its finished, other times if there is a fault early on it will take minutes to show.

EXAMPLE of fault (en.wikipedia.org)

I actually had a Customers PC once the fault in the memory didn't show up till after running for close to 10 hours.

Something else you can check on, right click on My computer, Properties / Device Manager ( top Left) when it opens look and see if there are there any issues shown.

1358652 2013-11-04 03:24:00 Also try running chkdsk through the drive, you could have software corruption someplace. wainuitech (129)
1358653 2013-11-05 18:53:00 12.5h memtest and chkdsk haven't found any errors.

What could be other sources of error? Many thanks for any help.
