| 1337343 | 2013-04-19 06:22:00 | "We are New Zealand's only oil refinery and we have a reputation as one of Asia Pacific's safest and most reliable refineries. So what is it exactly that we do? To put it simply, crude oil bought by our customers is shipped to our deep-water port at Marsden Point, near Whangarei, where we refine it into high quality transport fuels for New Zealand. And that's a big job. We supply: all of the country's jet fuel nearly 80% of diesel around half of all petrol between 75 and 85% of bitumen for roading all fuel oil for ships sulphur for farm fertiliser and we even put the fizz in fizzy drinks!" From NZRC website. From this you can see that about 45% to 50% of motor spirit is still imported. The expansion to catalysers being done at the moment will increase this percentage produced locally to about 70% from memory. The refinery has several oil companies as consumer/ shareholders who own all the feedstock they import. The refinery is paid a processing fee by these companies, and at no stage owns the product. The oil companies then add their 'secret herbs and spices' and ship to their service outlets. Motor spirit for Auckland is piped to a bulk depot in that city, The rest of NZ is supplied by sea tankers Kakariki and Torea. |

The compression ratio was very high and I had to add aviation fuel to the Super. With the "Fuel Star" fitted it ran on regular petrol with a standard timing setting. These devices were first used in the 2nd world war to enable British planes to run on Russian fuel. The Jet boats running 350 Chev V8's were having trouble with unleaded fuel burning holes through the pistons. "Fuel Star" cured this. The AA rubbished them despite 100's of references from satisfied customers. The AA recommended an additive marketed by BP. As a result, all the St Johns ambulances were down with sticky valves. "Fuel Star" came to the rescue. |

| 1337348 | 2013-04-20 05:22:00 | They can only retard and advance so much. If you're putting 91 in a turbo for example expect your car not to last too long. If you are referring to auto-timing adjustment range, my 6 is a bog standard 2.3 litre Mazda. If it no longer copes with fuel variations (it ran OK on 91 for several years, so this is a recent problem) it seems to me that the octane rating must have dropped. For all that, using Gull 91 fuel with ethanol it runs just fine, and it is cheaper. On that basis I wouldn't bother with a Fuelstar or Green Power cartridge either. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

It really feels good taking the money as they say a fool and his money are soon parted | prefect (6291) | ||
