www.trademe.co.nz what a rip off ah. All they are doing is buying off ebay and selling again on trademe for twice the price.

Most of the stuff you find on trademe can bought elsewhere for cheaper price. Amazon is one place that I can think of. And in some cases stuff on trademe is cheaper than in some retail stores

1336278 2013-04-10 04:21:00 I bought a Braun (sorry, don't know the model) from Appliance Shed about 12 months ago after continually getting a rash with a blade. Paid about $250 for the Braun and then got a cashback of $100 a couple of weeks later. It's awesome - has mini-clippers set between the two foils to chop those thicker whiskers while you're shaving, has a pop-up trimmer and is cordless. I get about 4 weeks out of a charge.

Iantech is spot on - don't go with the cheapies...

1336279 2013-04-10 05:23:00 I hate them, feels like an army of tiny men with tweezers attacking my face. I like the Idea in theory if I could find one that doesn't do that but it would take a lot of blade refills to pay for an $800 appliance. dugimodo (138)

Sounds like you have a coarse/strong whisker and haven't used a powerful electric shaver (one with a very high cutting rate).

You'd make your money back very quickly as you wouldn't be buying shaving cream and would save minutes a day/hours per month...

1336281 2013-04-10 05:53:00 Thanks guys - have gone with a Philips Norelco 1250X/46 SensoTouch 3D from Amazon - NZ$241 - guess there could be GST too when it arrives! stuffed (1469)
1336282 2013-04-10 06:00:00 I have a Philishave rotary and a Remington Foil. The Philishave is about 12-15 years old, is used daily and gives a very smooth shave. They are also very kind to sensitiver skin.
I keep it clean, spray cleaner on the heads from time to time, and it just keeps on cutting on the original rotary blades.

The Remington is of similar vintage but gets less use. It cuts closer than the Philshave so I use it when I'll be out all day and want to look well shaven for longer.
Both are good, but the Phishave wins for comfort and its ability to cut cleanly no matter which way the bristle is laying.

With the Remington, you have to get the direction rightt or it just passes over, and it give the odd nick or two if you are not careful.

I've had two Brauns but both clapped out.

I do prefer rotary.

Cheers

Do you have a model number for your Philishave rotary? Interesting that you are using the original rotary blades.
