1358636 2013-11-03 22:41:00 Hi

Win XP, SP 3; Brother multifunction printer

I've been using my computer and printer without problems for months. Since yesterday my computer is continuously rebooting when printer is connected with usb and turned on. For a very brief moment a blue screen appears and then computer reboots. I've downloaded and reinstalled the latest printer driver from the Brother webpage. Computer still reboots.

Can somebody please help me. Many thanks for your help.

1358637 2013-11-03 22:44:00 Sounds more like you have a virus. Have you done a virus scan recently? Webdevguy (17166)
1358638 2013-11-03 22:45:00 No, will do one right now. Cyberhuskey (13067)
1358639 2013-11-03 23:00:00 Probably do the scan without your printer connected first. Webdevguy (17166)
1358640 2013-11-03 23:00:00 Disable auto restart so you can see what the BSOD is saying Speedy Gonzales (78)
1358641 2013-11-03 23:03:00 Sorry, how can I disable auto restart? Cyberhuskey (13067)
1358642 2013-11-03 23:22:00 Googled how to disable auto restart. Cyberhuskey (13067)
1358643 2013-11-03 23:36:00 Press windows key + pause / advanced / startup and recovery. Untick automatically restart. Did you scan the system with something? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1358644 2013-11-03 23:38:00 @ Speedy
Ta. It's still scanning. I'll be back when scan finished and I've read the blue screen. Many thanks.

1358645 2013-11-03 23:41:00 Sweet, tell us what the BSOD says once it finishes. And if it gives / shows the name of a file / driver, what's it called? It maybe a faulty port. Or something that infects USB flash drives. If it only crashes when you use USB Speedy Gonzales (78)
