1358523 2013-11-02 13:42:00 i need a parallel cable to run from the header on my motherboard to an IOshield/backplane situated in one of my expansion slots.

i currently have a 9pin+25pin serial backplane and wish to remove the 25pin serial socket and replace it with a parallel port.

i assume someone has a few lying around that they desperately no longer need.

local techstore wants $12 for one, auctions on trademe want $7.50+$3 shipping or $29.90 + shipping (wtf)

id be happy to pay for postage (i assume a standard envelope would be sufficient)

please help this geek.

HAVE A GREAT MONTH

You answered your own question there. Very old tech = rare = expensive. ;)

1358527 2013-11-03 01:10:00 its hardly rare; its been on the majority of systems from the 80s through to mid last decade. you can still get new systems with it though it is discouraged by mircosoft.

usb adaptors etc also.

i suppose $12 is fine if money isn't a concern. $30 is rude. and $2 is the right price (until we abolish money)

There is nothing specifically old about it. The thing is simply made up of a DB-25 connector, some ribbon cable, and a 25-pin IDC connector. All are very common standardised parts and which are available cheaply at any decent electrical component distributor, and even cheaper when Made In China.
