| 1358121 | 2013-10-28 05:57:00 | Ok Opera Browser is changing its engine etc, and going with the same engine as Chrome, which means 90% of the features that made Opera well Opera are being ditched. I am still using the last version on the old engine and I am wondering if there are any other Opera users out there who have made the transition to another browser and if so what and why? or are they using the newer version of Opera with the Chrome engine thingie Features I like about Opera that are being dumped 1) Built-in email client and RSS feed reader, it is beautifully integrated they actually feel like part of the browser, note I do use a standalone email client for my main emails but having one is handy for all those crappy little email accounts you hardly ever use or that you use for signing up to websites 2) Dragonfly - Operas Firebug? equivalent, again it just works and works well, I am assuming firebug has improved since I last used it 3) Lots of other things that you don't even think about till you find they don't work in other browsers. I have over the years played with various browsers but have always come back to Opera, most browsers I haven't touched in a while except for testing the odd website Firefox - to get the functionality I want i have to add lots of ass-ons and they aren't always updated quick enough so you update then can't use something Chrome - I don't know why I just can't take to it, theres bare bones and then there is just lacking Internet Explorer - I ditched this and went to Netscape Navigator 6 and havent really come back to it, although i am quite impressed with the latest version even if its Dragonfly equivalent is a bit basic |

The good addons get updated. Then again, I use several browsers depending on how I am feeling at the time. Safari works fine on Windows, if you like Safari. |

You don't have to leave Firefox on auto update you know, you can manually update it yourself when you feel the need....it's not going to stop working or cause your computer to explode, just because you haven't let it update every every single iteration. |

| 1358129 | 2013-10-28 20:32:00 | Had been using Opera for years but even in the 12.00 series had trouble with an increasing incidence with website compatibility Had been looking at Pale Moon 6 Months before I changed over,in all not only is Pale Moon quicker but I have it better configured than Opera with a better range of Add on's and Extentions Have Thunderbird for Email (Opera mail was better though),both Pale Moon and Thunderbird can be easily backed up with Pale Moon Backup and Mozbackup for Thunderbird |
