In the mid sixties they were on the radio all the time. Their music is still being played today.

The only complaint that I have - and it was not The Beatles' fault - is that all their singles and most of their albums, for some strange reason were released in mono in New Zealand. The first album to be released in stereo in NZ was Sgt Peppers. I bought all their earlier albums in Sydney, so I have them all in stereo. I downloaded all their singles and burnt them to a CD, so now I have all their music in stereo. Fantastic.

Mine was the opposite. She taught piano, and was in her own right an esteemed classical pianist, playing many concertos from memory and without reference to sheet music. She was an avid supporter of the Beatles, saying their music was way ahead of its time and indeed was brilliant compositions.

That she was a scouse may have had something to with it, I don't know ...

And still I don't particularly like them.

Join the club.

Sounds about right. Stereo didn't really come around in NZ till 1966, at least concerning local music, but i'd guess they wouldn't have bothered with international stuff either, as there wasn't much of a market in NZ back then (at least from what I can gather).
