2004-03-19 01:30:00 | Last Friday morning I ordered a software program from PC Central. On Monday afternoon I received a phone call from them asking if I wanted it !!! I said "yes", send it. Today a week later it hasn't arrived and no word from them. I suspect they are one of these companies that advertise stock they don't have. So be careful, Jack

2004-03-19 01:47:00 | Hi Susan, I have not phoned them. I don't believe in paying for toll calls. But I have e-mailed them. No reply yet. What brasses me off is companies that advertise a product they don't have without any mention of this on their web site. I only ordered from them because no one else had it advertised. BTW. What does "Flying at last" mean? Jack

Unfortunately its both common and probably necessary. If they stocked everything, they would get badly caught with old versions in stock. To offset this they would need to charge more. That means nobody would buy from them as its too dear, the only retailers that would survive are those ordering it in when asked. Recently I needed a copy of Microsoft Visio urgently. I found nobody that had it in stock. Retail outlets had the box (display only) but no actual copies. In the end DSE were the best for service, as they had a copy in their warehouse. Shipped it immediately. |

2004-03-19 04:03:00 | to add to godfather not having the item in stock is comman exspecially for small stores/techs however this is different from the ones who advertise a product at a cheap price only for you to find that they don't have any. then (surprise surprise) they finally get some in stock in months time when the price of the item as fallen and everyone is selling it at their "special" price. | tweak'e (174) | |
2004-03-19 10:31:00 | Don't talk to me aout Dick Smith . . . still waiting on my answerphone . I ordered it 2 March 04 was showing IN STOCK in their warehouse on their website at the time, emailed them 6th March asking where it was, received following 8th March Dear Sir, Sorry about the delay . The item you have ordered is on backorder, and unfortunately our supplier's delivery has been delayed . This is something we do not have any control over . The last delivery date they gave us is 05/03/2004 . We can get this transferred back from one of our stores and to send to you, but this would take at least two extra days . Please advise whether you would like to cancel this order and get it yourself from a store, or wait till we have more stock at the distribution centre, which could be anytime now . I responded that I would wait, for now, as it looked like it is due soon . 17 days later, still waiting . . . website now says: Online Store: Out of stock, due 25-Mar-2004, we will backorder for you and despatch asap J :(
