223658 2004-03-19 09:23:00 I know this is probably a dumb question but could someone please explain what the three boxes " Read only " " Hidden " " Archive " are all about. They are on any file when opened in properties. jebby (4580)
223659 2004-03-19 09:39:00 Pretty much what it says; Read Only=no writing possible, Hidden=Cant see file unless your system allows you to read hidden files as standard. peter.jonsson (3024)

Read only - as the name suggests, it mean if you tick it then will not be able to write/ save to that file.

Hidden - as the name suggests, it mean if you tick it then change you folder view opinion to not to be able to see hidden files then that file/folder is hidden

Archive - Not too sure on this one, some one else should be able to tell us that one :)

Hope this helps

223661 2004-03-19 09:47:00 archive is not of much use to most people,it was designed to be used by backup programs. by marking a file as archive the program know that that file had been backedup. robsonde (120)
