223672 2004-03-19 07:49:00 Hi
Been trying to log into nzoom.com for half an hour or so. Starts to load then loads the tvnz.co.nz site instead. Can someone else see if this happens to them to?

Cheers

223673 2004-03-19 07:55:00 NZoom was a temporary service setup by TVNZ while they developed their website to include a portal and everything (kinda like a testbed)...
After everything was tested and ironed out TVNZ were to pull the plug on NZOOM and use their own site to do the NZOOM services - so it looks as if they've finally made the switch..

cyberchuck is sort of right there, I have been trying to find some more information about this ( so I could post it here), but it looks like tvnz.co.nz/nzoom.com has gone down, unless it is that I am still having internet problems :(

223675 2004-03-19 08:22:00 Welcome to tvnz.co.nz

In the tradition of nzoom.com, but bigger, brighter and better, this is tvnz.co.nz. After a year in development, we are pleased to welcome you to New Zealand's hottest information and entertainment based website...

From the redirected nzoom site (which is fully accessible)

"Bad Gateway

223677 2004-03-19 09:48:00 They announed a year ago or so they were going to revamp the site and if that didnt improve its situation then it would be removed.

Its "situation" was that it was an expensive heavy unpopular site that didnt serve its purpose.

223678 2004-03-19 09:55:00 It appears as if they have tried to put too much on the site as it is very slow to load on a dialup.

Also I have used a variety of browsers and it display differently or incorrectly on them all so testing seems to have been very minimal or not at all on anything apart from Win IE

here is that information that I was looking for from: . com/story . html?story_changeover_tvnz04 . inc" target="_blank">nzoom . com ( Note: this link my not work soon)

Big changes underway at TVNZ Interactive

Work on TVNZ’s all-new website, tvnz . co . nz, is progressing extremely well and TVNZ Interactive is delighted with the form the site is taking .
The technical team is in the final stage of creating a platform that will be one of the best in the world and this will be a great asset to site performance .

In the short period before we go live, nzoom . com will continue in its current, award-winning format and an interim TVNZ homepage will be created to welcome TV viewers who have been directed to the new URL

The new tvnz . co . nz website will be an extension of what we do on air, promoting and bringing added value to TV ONE and TV2 programmes . Shows on TV ONE and TV2 will be supported online and you will be able to find in-depth information about your favourite programmes as well as interviews with the stars, video, screensavers, photos, games and prizes .

At the same time, the wide range of news, sports, business and weather information New Zealanders have come to expect from the very popular ONE News and ONE Sport sections of the nzoom . com website will continue and be expanded on tvnz . co . nz

Keyword search and how it works

tvnz . co . nz will use the keyword search facility allowing your search for information to be streamlined and more efficient .

Once the website is launched, the only address you will need to remember will be tvnz . co . nz . Once you come to our new homepage you will see a keyword search box where you will able to type the information you are looking for, for example; Holmes, NZ Idol, 2Kids, News and Sport - all you need to do is type your chosen programme into the box and you will immediately be taken to the required section of the new site .

You will also see a change in the way we advertise the website on the television too . At the end of programmes you will see the website advertised as:

tvnz . co . nz
keyword: holmes
(or whatever programme you are watching) .
If this all sounds a bit confusing, don't worry because it really isn't . If you miss the keyword or don't know what it is you can always come to tvnz . co . nz and all the information you require will be there .

Users have told us that they want the information on websites to be easily accessible and fast . Having one central place for information and then an internal search facility means you can get to your required information really quickly .

I was just thinking that my self ;), even on JetStream starter some pages take a few sec’s to load

It look like they have broken three main website design rules

1. For the site to load ok in different browsers
2. The site should loads sort of fast on 56K connection
3. To build your site so it can be view in 800 X 600 or smaller (NOT: 1024 x 768. As most people have do not have larger screens.

223681 2004-03-19 10:43:00 Well I can agree with you there stu. I always like a menu before you enter the site whether to browse it in 800x600 or 1024x768. kiki (762)
