223564 2004-03-19 00:01:00 What you are asking is one of mickysofts biggist shortcommings when in comes to outlook, but you have a number of options.

1. Spend money and buy one of the many utils that will do it for you.

2. Drag and drop each message to a file and then drag and drop them into the new install.

3. One method I have used is to copy the ENTIRE outlook data folder over to the new install. This method is NOT recomended by mickysoft or many others, but it has worked for me every time, cross fingers, touch wood.
THIS TRICK WILL ONLY WORK IF THE VERSIONS OF OUTLOOK ARE THE SAME!!

223565 2004-03-19 00:37:00 The import thing has always worked for me. It gives you the option to choose what mail program the messages are stored in (old OE, Eudora, Netscape etc).

Either pop the old hdd into the new PC and do it that way, or find and copy the .dbx files to a floppy and browse to the A drive.

223567 2004-03-19 01:02:00 I have never done the import/export thing (it's way too easy :p) - my method is to copy the * . dbx files from the older machine to the newer one so if the import/export thing doesn't work for you for some strange reason that is a second option available .

Note that the * . dbx files are pretty well hidden in Win XP, when you search for them you have to got to the More Advanced Options and put ticks in the first three options before they will show up . You will also likely find them in each user's folder so you will need to decide which user to put them under .

The other thing to remember is that if OE has already been used and has got some messages in it they will be deleted upon pasting the * . dbx files from the backup .

223568 2004-03-19 01:13:00 the XP computer is new and has not had email use yet.

copying the DBX files sound like the easy way.

might try the import / export as a second option.
