223417 2004-03-18 01:54:00 Greetings,

Im helping a friend who has come over from Canada setup his Palm (Tungsten|W).

He has a few different email accounts, one at hotmail, one at yahoo, and one with some 3rd party Email Provider (Perhaps his business) which he has Pop access to.

Basically, We're trying to get the Palm to check emails one way or another. We'd prefer to use via the USB Cradle, but there's a SIM card in the Palm should we need to use it wirelessly.

How do we go about this? The documentation online details nothing about using a PC's internet connection but I dont see why you shouldnt be able to use it to check email on the Palm?

Many thanks

223418 2004-03-18 06:08:00 Put Linux on the PALM and he could do what you wont... but not via the USB port he would need a WIFI / GSM / xDMA / WAP ( with suitable phone ) type connection.

I assume he "hot syncs" at the home / office and that is more than likley what he will have to do at your place.

223419 2004-03-18 06:47:00 We have a SIM card in it... If we were to use that... then how would we go about it?

Linux is out of the question sadly, although I had suggested it to him origionally :-(

If so, you could set it (the Palm) up for a local ISP (yours perhaps?) and access the web that way, then see if you can POP3 over the connection.

Relaying may be a problem.
