| 224006 | 2004-03-20 22:26:00 | we're getting a didital camera, and we're wondering which one to get. xp home usb 1.1 >_> it'll be used for general use. we want quite good detail, a good software bundle, and $xx<$1000. we would like for it to have memory stick and usb cradle. what megapixel rating and/or model would you people reccomend? |

Most are supplied with a 16 or 32 Mb and hold a pathetically small number of photos. 128Mb allows you to click away even if you eventually dump a fair percentage of your shots. | 224010 | 2004-03-21 02:06:00 | While there is a recommendation above for "internal rechargeable batteries" try and avoid anything that uses non standard batteries, AA cells are the best and cheapest long term choice, and usually cameras that use them can take both alkaline or rechargeable . This is most useful, as it means you need never be caught without a useable battery, but it also means the batteries are unlikely to be recharged in the camera . That's also important, because AA batteries can leak under charge as they approach the end of their life, and you do not want that happening in the camera . So AA cells that are externally charged are preferable in my view . |

| 224011 | 2004-03-21 02:36:00 | Agreed. To me internal rechargable sounds like something that will be overly expensive to replace when it dies. Also, rechargable nimh AA batteries are cheap so you can carry a spare set (or two). Battery life is the thing that still limits digital cameras. |

| 224014 | 2004-03-21 13:43:00 | have a look at the fuji s7000 i got one a month ago and have taken over 3000 pics with it and i don't want for anything more !! and they are going for $1048 in a shop in auckland great quality pics and it's fast and has good zoom oh yes its not a girls camera :-) |
