223918 2004-03-20 07:15:00 When I start up my computer, sometimes it doesn't start up properly, like it goes all weird colours or i cant use the mouse or keyboard. When I send a error report to Windows they say that there is a problem with my nvidia graphics driver and that i should update it and gives me a link to the website. I have downloaded the newest version many times yet it doesn't change and I still get the problem. What can I do???? deejay_ajay (5421)

that dosn't mean anything. have a look in display properties, it should list the files like you have listed and have a version number next to them. what is the version number?

The version number for all of them is 6.14.10.5303

223924 2004-03-20 08:35:00 Well if your computer is seriously 10GHz as your friend Hiren said (sounds more like it was a typographical error and should be 1.0GHz), then I would honestly reccommend that you first try dropping your CPU back to something more reasonable. Like 2GHz. Yes.

And if you're getting weird colours in both Windows and before Windows has loaded, it's most likely your monitor, graphics card, or the cable between the two.

223925 2004-03-20 08:38:00 Yeah that would make sense. Would I have to take it into the shop to fix it??? deejay_ajay (5421)

????

download this (www.aida32.hu), install it and it shows you info about your pc. it should say what motherboard you have.

as mentioned before you could have a monitor problem giveing you poor colours however you should notice it at boot up before windows loads and it won't be the cause of the error messages.

223927 2004-03-20 09:22:00 I'm not quite sure if you understand.

From your other thread (about MSN Messenger), Hiren said that your computer has a CPU that is running at 10GHz. The latest consumer-targetted CPU isn't even 4GHz (you'd be hard pressed to get it to 4GHz even with overclocking), and the only way you can get near 10GHz is via multiple CPUs, which is beyond the financing of your average consumer.

I am therefore assuming that Hiren meant to type "1.0GHz" and not "10GHz". Or perhaps you have been bragging to a very gullible person.

In any case, you can find out the speed of your CPU by pressing Win+Pause (the Pause key is usually located near the Page Up/Down keys).
