| 223833 | 2004-03-20 05:03:00 | Yes, I know there are other threads on this (I started one of them myself), but the posts so far merely tell us who has/hasn't received their CDs. People who want to talk about that can stick to that thread. But because all good PF1ers already have their security up to date (as of course we know) some people are in no hurry to try the CDs out....though we may be a bit curious about this new firewall..? Any better than free ZoneAlarm, for instance? Different in what way? How about some info from those of you who've sampled the offering? Any problems running it? Good features? (Dare we say) bad features...remembering the saying about not looking gift horses in the mouth. And please, no Microsoft flaming - just a review of the product. |

| 223837 | 2004-03-20 08:46:00 | Thanks Laura for starting this thread. I've received the MS CD's, and like you I'd value any opinions from people who have installed the updates and/or the firewall, antivirus option. Any problems? Opinions, or a review, will be appreciated. |

| 223840 | 2004-03-21 04:46:00 | Had a look at the firewall etc. There are three options to select.I decidedto have a look at the firewall, but stopped when I was asked to uninstall zone alarm before proceeding, yeah right. I already have a full 10months to go on my paid for security,so I won't be trying the new free for 12 month full trial until that expires. So at the end of the day,I can tell you bugger all really. Cheers DD. |

That would be because it is unwise to run two firewalls at the same time in case one cancels out the other. > I already have a full 10months to go on my paid for security,so I won't be trying the new free for 12 month full trial until that expires. Fair enough, I don't blame you. > So at the end of the day,I can tell you bugger all really. Every little bit helps - the advice regarding it wanting you to uninstall ZA might be useful to a few people. :-) |
