2004-03-19 20:24:00 | ZoneAlarm I've been using for 2 years and it's easy to figure out and manage and all that. I'm a lite user stay pretty much on the straight and narrow and don't have lots of probs ZA does fine for me. Some ppl will say any free one is useless but depends what you do. :) | mark c (247) | |
2004-03-19 21:34:00 | The free 'Microsoft Windows Security Update CD to Feb 2004' also comes with a free Antivirus and Firewall software trial CD. I've not heard the names EZ Armor LE or ETrust but they come from 'Computer Associates'. <Try my-eTrust.com> for more info.

2004-03-19 21:34:00 | I had been using Zonealarm for about 3 years (free version) without any problems. Friend has paid version which has added features like traceroute but to be honest that is about the only difference that would make any difference to me. On the free version I would always get a full "Stealth" report from grc (http://www.grc.com) on Jetstream. I use Alcatel 4 port router. Interestingly I had recently reinstalled XP Pro and as a test did not instal firewall again. Test back from grc showed full stealth again. I have been told that my router is doing the firewall job for me but I wonder is there any other job that firewall is doing that the router isnt.

2004-03-19 22:00:00 | I have been using Sygate Personal Firewall for several years with complete satisfaction . I get full stealth on tests as well . If you have a network, it is also easy to configure rules to let each computer on the network access each other through the firewall . SPF got a good write up in NZ PC World as well - can't remember when sorry .

2004-03-20 21:07:00 | I've just swapped to Sygate Personal,in case Zone Alarm was causing my problem (which it wasn't),and like them both. Both are easy to set up. And both pass the Stealth test on ShieldsUp . | Neil McC (178) | |
2004-03-20 22:13:00 | I had used Zone Alarm for a few years, but when I got 2 new computers running XP it conflicted with them both. So I changed to Sygate and had no problems..love the program and would recommend it. | jonzsie (2689) | |
