Hey Odin the other thing to look out for is that the Jetstream usage meter will charge you 1.3mb+ for every 1mb you download. In fact its even more exponential than that!!

Make sure you try keeping a usage meter on your PC as the Telecom usage meter does not work. In fact you will probably blow your 10gig cap within 5days and you will be on dialup speed, even though you've probably only downloaded 1 or 2 gig. Now if you are on a 2gig plan, then you'll be paying $$$ in excess usage fees. ]:)

Check out this thread (forums.jetstreamgames.co.nz), some interesting discussion. Can't wait till it hits the news.

Everyone loves a good telecom bashing, they completely and utterly deserve it in every respect. :D

224165 2004-03-21 12:08:00 Oh and stu, No I am not with Xtra and yes I did wonder about the meter thing but after phoning telecom they told me that I was in fact already on the 256 even though it wasn't due to start until the 22nd. I actuially checked the meter for serveral days after ringing in and changing and it was ok, so I stopped checking it, it wasn't until yesterday that I though I'd better check it again.

Thanks for the input though.

224166 2004-03-21 12:11:00 Oh damn Odin! Ring them up again and tell them to shove it! Make them reset your usage. Thats not on.

Then again your not likely to get a refund. Non pro-rata *mumble mumble*.

Have you tried login to the Jetstream Surf plan with your new login?
& Who is your ISP?

OOh now thats low even for them, I have installed network monitoring software that will keep and accurate record of ALL data to and from the internet and that combined with the records from my adsl router i will be armed with the ammunition i need to hopefully keep them honest. :-)

Ok course they do, It brings sunshine to my day to yell and scream about telecom. In a way telecoms tactics keep me young, as venting anger by stomping up and down and running round the room swearing and abusing them helps maintain a healthly rage free body, as it is not good to keep these things bottled up and one should release those feelings somehow. At least until the next time they pull the dirty tactics out :D

224169 2004-03-21 12:17:00 Well loging into another account with the ISP won't do squat. I found out the hard way when wanting a jetstream and a jetstart account o nthe same line.

The Telecom usage meter charges on a line basis. So if you login with a different account you might only get the speed increase, but still same usage regardless of whoever you were logged in with.

I'm with Orcon, and no I still haven't tried the new login as I want to be able to show that I haven't even used the 256k plan yet until I talk to telecom billing in the morning as they don't work on the weekends, so I will have proof that no data traffic has occured with the fast adsl login.

Please excuse the harshness of the words in my earlier post I was still outraged after my talk with them and it is good to vent some of the anger in a somewhat stern post :D
