| 224072 | 2004-03-21 01:29:00 | ....than the post replied to ? For instance I just replied to a post in Laura's thread which is "Reviews of ..." I clicked to reply to Agent's post. It appeared at the end of the thread however ! Sometimes I see that the post is placed after the one replied to and other times it just tacks on to the end of the thread. There does not seem to be consistency. On one occasion my reply started at the end of the thread, then after a period it moved up to the spot immediately after the specific post that I had replied to. Is there some time lag perhaps ?? | 224073 | 2004-03-21 01:54:00 | If your logged on the thread order is defined by when they were posted,if your not logged on they display by who you were replying to. Makes the forum pretty much unusable unless your a member and signed in. |

| 224074 | 2004-03-21 01:58:00 | Order is also defined by your view in "my settings" i.e. Threaded or Flat view. In "flat view" all postings appear at the bottom of a thread. In "threaded" they appear imediately after the post replied to. |

I have noticed subsequently though that in Laura's thread (the one I referred to above) my post started off at the end of the thread but has since gravitated to directly under Agent's post which was the one I actually replied to - ie, there seems to be some type of time delay (at least occasionally !). That way everything is ordered properly from first to last. At Tec they have blocked off access to PF1 so I use a siteviewer to read some posts, but I can't login. Man it is a pain in the neck trying to read a 20+ post topic and not knowing who spoke last or trying to read it to see the newer posts. So in short: Click reply on the very, very, very last post in a topic. X-( |

When someone asks a question early in the topic and things have followed a different slant I had presumed that it would be best to go back and identify where I was coming from ie, what aspect of the thread I am responding to. Mind you when merely reading a thread I have been caught the other way. What you say gives me food for thought. Presumably the "siteviewer" does not give you the facility for following the date/time of the posting ? Misty :| |

No. If a thread is 50+ posts in length, and I want to reply to post #5, it would be clearer to see what my post relates to if I click reply on post #5, as (in threaded view, which I use) it'll appear underneath the post I'm replying to, rather than right at the end (after many many unrelated other posts).
