224028 2004-03-20 22:47:00 I cant stop the computer from automaticaly dialing up on start up.
The dial up box cant be killed by clicking cancel or the X button.
All I can do is watch it connect, go into OE or IE then quit them and disconnect. In one in 3 starts its allright. I have the latest updated Norton Anti Virus and dont have Zone alarm which I read about causing probs on google search.
Can anyone help please. Last three problems no one here could solve it so 4th time lucky.

224030 2004-03-20 23:14:00 I mean no one here could shed any light on how to fix my last 3 problems.
For two of them I had to reformat computer and reload everything and one fault I took the computer to Henderson computers.

224031 2004-03-20 23:22:00 zonealarm will only cause problems to my knowledge if you have 'norton internet security' running cause it's also gotta fire wall and they can conflict........why not try zone......it's actually damn good and aside from that issue with norton I've NEVER seen it cause probs.......and it'll TELL you what prog is trying to dial..you've almost certainly got soem spyware hiding in there .....or a trojan...........get adaware from www.lavasoft.com and run it ......... drcspy (146)

224033 2004-03-20 23:41:00 OK - I thought you might have been referring to this partucular problem.
With Internet Explorer open go to Tools/Internet Options
Click on the Advanced Tab
Scroll to Security, Uncheck "check for publisher’s revocation certificate"

If you are still having a problem

Go to ControlPanel/Networking.
Select Advanced from the menu/ go to Dial Up Preferences.
Uncheck "Enable Autodial from Location"

224034 2004-03-20 23:57:00 What op/sys are you running, and versions of IE and OE? Also, do they open automatically too, and if so, what page does IE go to? Greg S (201)
224035 2004-03-21 00:01:00 norton itself can be the cause of this behaviour as it tries to update drcspy (146)
224036 2004-03-21 01:26:00 Thanks Jim unchecking the revocation certificate fixed it.
I was pretty sure it wasnt a virus or adware because I have NAV and Norton Internet Security and Spybot.

Two problems where I reformated the hardrive and started over again were: JPG images opened minimised but looked like they had been sat on when maximised. Other problem was webtext to vodafone didnt work. Computer locked in safe mode took it to computer shop and they reformated the drive and reloaded windows!. Could have done it myself and saved money lol. The links of these posts dont seem to paste properly they dont go nice and bloo/clickable. Can search on id tedheath .
Thanks again Jim.
