224526 2004-03-23 11:18:00 - Move it to your home directory.
- Open a terminal (eg Konsole).
- Run: chmod +x ArmyOpps200a-Linux.bin
- Then run ./ArmyOpps200a-Linux.bin

If you really don't want to use the terminal you should be able to do the same with the file manager:
- Bring up properties on the file.
- On the permissions tab turn on executable for your user.
- Double click on the file.

224528 2004-03-24 02:36:00 It sounds like you are running with no 3D acceleration (DRI = Direct Rendering something).

I though Xandros included the nvidia and ati drivers in the commercial version. What graphics card do you have?
bmason (508)
224529 2004-03-24 07:15:00 Leadtek winfast A250 le TD 128 MyVivo

I am using the drivers that instaled with xandros should I look for new drivers.

224530 2004-03-24 08:42:00 What chip does the card use?

And what driver is it currently using?

You can find out what driver by open a terminal window and pasting the following command: "grep Driver /etc/X11/XF86Config-4".

It will print out a couple of lines like:
Driver "Keyboard"
Driver "mouse"
Driver "radeon"
Driver "radeon"

"nv" is the 2d only open source nvidia driver.
"nvidia" is the full nvidia driver.
"radeon" has full support for older ATI chips, but is 2D only for newer ones. Also open source.
"fglrx" is the full ATI driver.

It you didn't buy a boxed copy of Xandros it would not have included the full nvidia/ati drivers because of the license they are under. But they can be downloaded from the ati/nvidia website.

224531 2004-03-24 09:15:00 "grep Driver /etc/X11/XF86Config-4".

Launch / run command / select Advanced / Run in terminal ??

A box flashes up for less than a second cant read anything.

New boxed version 2.0

224532 2004-03-24 09:23:00 ietscomp:/home/piet# grep Driver /etc/X11/XF86Config-4
Driver "keyboard"
Driver "mouse"
Driver "mouse"
Driver "vesa"

This all new to me lol

224533 2004-03-24 10:49:00 Yeah, terminal means a command prompt like konsole. It looks like you figured it out. Sorry about all the command line stuff but I haven't used Xandros so I don't know what graphical tools it includes.

I'm surprised its using the vesa driver. Its a fall back driver that will work on anything but its totally unaccelerated (both 2D & 3D). Also the refresh rate will be stuck at 60Hz which is awful to use.

Can you post the chip your card uses, I don't want to dig through the leadtek site. It is either something weird or the xandros installer screwed up.
If you don't know, try running "lspci" in a terminal and post back anything it lists as either "VGA compatable controller" or "Display controller".
