224489 2004-03-23 09:45:00 Can I group the Office programs e.g. Word, Publisher, Excel ... together so that I have more room on my Startup menu?
Thanks,
Berniel

I am not sure what version of Office you have, but why don't you use the Office Toolbar and add other programs to it?

224492 2004-03-23 11:45:00 You can drag&drop all your entries around in the start menu, make folders, delete shortcuts, just play around and see what you can do.

I have mine simplified into three folders,Games,Apps,Microscum.

The Office toolbar was a horrible thing, and I believe it was dropped after Office 97 so anyone with a newer version won't have it. (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

224494 2004-03-23 14:06:00 The easiest way to do all this is to right-click on the Start Menu and choose Explore.

You may need to choose "Explore all users" if the items you want arent displayed.

This makes it a lil easier to create Folders etc :-)

Yes you can. Other than other replies in particular you might like to check answers from your earlier post on a similar subject as at 28 August 2003.

Jen_C had a good reply to your original post there. I liked her answer best. Just my opinion here.

The opinion from Metla may well differ from mine though.

My way of looking at this one is to have a few folders on the Desktop like folder called Elephant and another called Mrs Elephant ( thanks Dipstick01)

Right click anything in the start menu in the way of programs and create shortcut. Drag the second shortcut into folder and rename so that rather than Word(2) you just get a shortcut to Word.

Are you hinting at something here....

Its much easier to right-click on a file and choose Send-To -- > > Desktop.

If you have TweakUI, you can prevent Windows from adding "Shortcut to *" to the beginning of each file-name.

The interesting thing about any version of Windows is there are normally several ways to do the same thing. Any way that works is fine as it works. We very much have our own way of doing things.

Fine. It works that way in WinXP but the shortcut will not be put in a Folder on the destop will it? Send-to desktop then drag to folder will work and probably easier than what I have been doing.

True. Not everyone has Tweakui though.
Shortcuts can be deleted without deleting the installed program and if I know it's a shortcut then I can delete without a problem can't I.

224498 2004-03-23 20:00:00 you dont need tweakui to remove the 'shortcut to' in the name just right clik it and 'rename'....... drcspy (146)
