| 224384 | 2004-03-22 09:51:00 | hi ya, now this gives me the willys, not really thinking here when a window popped up thinking it was a friend. but it wasnt. someone has managed to find one of my sign in names and for yahoo, on a name i dont use for IM's any more, but it is still connected ??? not sure why really. is this some thing easy to do you think? they are obviously typing in random names etc? and hit mine? but this person i dont know pops up and starts chatting and then im like i dont know who this is??? they then ask what your name? so i immediatletly shut it down as i dont know this person, as all friends would know me correct? is this likely to be a problem? security wise? and now my yahoo IM wont connect anyway so ? i have not been on puter much this last week, so have not been up with any news of this going around? is this happening to other people??? im picking i have to scrap that name now dont you think? worried, confuzed beetle |

Security-wise it shouldn't be too much of a problem, but you never know . As long as you've got a firewall and antivirus then you should be fine . |

| 224388 | 2004-03-22 10:48:00 | Heh?.....change the pw to a harder one? What has the user password go yo do with it?,and even if it did then modern computers can crack open a password in minutes. Beetle,i would guess someone has a little program that hits random ip's and bulldoziers its way onto the users chat program through a security hole. Check for updates to the program,or the site for the program for any info. I noticed this happening with Windows messenger just before they forced an upgrade on us,presumibly to close whatever hole the kiddies were exploiting. |
