224330 2004-03-22 05:40:00 Somehow I seem to have picked up a bug that insists on opening a particular page whenever I open MSIE. I don't want it - it's a US site anyway - but when I go to tools/internet options and set the opening page to blank - the page is back the next time I go online. Can anyone advise how I can get rid of it please? I'm running XP Pro. Sami (667)
224331 2004-03-22 06:30:00 Hey Sami,

Go here and get this program:

www.javacoolsoftware.com

and also you may as well get this too, Spybot S+D:

www.safer-networking.org

Hope this helps you.

224332 2004-03-22 06:57:00 Thanks qwerty, but will either of these programmes eliminate the bug I already have. Iknow this can be done through the registry, but I was hoping that some could describe the process. Sami (667)
224333 2004-03-22 08:10:00 I think that either of them will probably take care of the problem. You should have these on your computer plus Ad-Aware and Zone Alarm if you are running Windows.

Lately, a lot of problems/hijacks have been the result of CoolWeb or one of it's varients. So you may want to download this (www.majorgeeks.com) program called CWShredder. It won't do any harm anyway, even if it doesn't find anything.

Between, Ad-aware , Spybot and CWShredder, they get rid of over 90% of hijacks.
