| 224330 | 2004-03-22 05:40:00 | Somehow I seem to have picked up a bug that insists on opening a particular page whenever I open MSIE. I don't want it - it's a US site anyway - but when I go to tools/internet options and set the opening page to blank - the page is back the next time I go online. Can anyone advise how I can get rid of it please? I'm running XP Pro. | Sami (667) | ||

| 224334 | 2004-03-22 08:26:00 | Also, you don't mention the site. This can be a clue as to what form of "scumware" is being used. Lately, a lot of problems/hijacks have been the result of CoolWeb or one of it's varients. So you may want to download this (www.majorgeeks.com) program called CWShredder. It won't do any harm anyway, even if it doesn't find anything. Between, Ad-aware , Spybot and CWShredder, they get rid of over 90% of hijacks. |
