224324 2004-03-22 03:42:00 I have a Leo Comfortview 17cx monitor - I have had it for about 4 years.
Can anyone tell me the setting for the Phosphors - it is at present on P22-EBU and I am not sure if it is the default setting or not. There is no
information in the User's Manual.
Perhaps one of the readers could send me a website name where I can find the specifications (I know names of such items can often be changed to the brand name of the distributor or retailer and it is difficult to find such information).
Also, as the monitor is four years old it may have been replaced by newer
models and that would make the information even harder to find.
Any information anyone can provide would be gratefully accepted.

224325 2004-03-22 03:52:00 Hi Samantha

Welcome to PF1. P22-EBU is a standard monitor colour profile and should not need changing.

Perhaps you could post a little more information that might help us to understand why you think a change mighr be needed.

Cheers

224326 2004-03-22 04:31:00 A quote from one of the links I found with Google: " All Dell monitors except one use P22 phosphor. The exception ... uses EBU". A descrption of setting up monitors (www.computer_darkroom.com) says the only two settings normally used are "Trinitron" and "P22-EBU". I get the impression that Trinitron tubes have P22(/EBU) phosphor. :D Graham L (2)
224327 2004-03-22 07:36:00 Unless you are doing serious graphics work you do not need to worry about monitor colour profiles. For an older monitor like yours it may even be a lost cause as the CRT may be nearing the end of its quality working life.

If you have colour rendition problems, they may be due to aging so I repeat my earlier suggestion that you advise us exactly why you believe the monitor needs calibration as it may be totally unrelated to profiles or any other calibration setting.

This site (nickyguides.digital-digest.com) may help explain what P22-EBU is all about and This FAQ (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) may deal with colour issues in general. Note that the FAQ link may take a while to open if the Forum is busy, but it's a shortcut link so it is faster than going via the FAQ section.

224328 2004-03-24 22:18:00 Thanks for that - I will leave it as it is. I have been calibrating the monitor as I have never done it before and want to get it right as I prepare to take on some contract pre-press work. I am working through my hardware piece-by-piece as what I get from PageMaker seems to differ hugely from the Photoshop result. The problem could be my printer even (an Epson A3 inkjet) but I now suspect it is the PageMaker settings as I recently printed out a picture with a bright lime green colour on screen and what I got was a dark grass green. Such discrepancy does not happen in Photoshop or even in Office printouts. Any suggestions? Samantha (5427)
224329 2004-03-26 09:07:00 Hi, That is good to know - I find the "manuals of today are always a disappointment when one looks for information. They seem to give instructions like "to start, push plug into the wall and press switch to ON position" and forget anything you might really like to know. Samantha (5427)
