IF i download the 1st march definition does that include the 24th feb virus definition or do i have to download each older virus definition to the current virus definition? |

Just like windows Service packs, they include all the ones before them, so the 1st od march's would include theth of feb. |

Which is why the file size of the manual updates are so large. ;-) |

| 224760 | 2004-03-24 23:05:00 | > Above link was for Virus Definitions: > > www.symantec.com > > > Systemworks updates can be got from there. catch is there is not many patchs listed. only 2 for 2004. also with manual updates it dosn't always reduse the amount of updates required. i have found that even after applying the latest defs you still have the same amount of updates to get :( also some program updates are hiden in the virus updates. unfortunatly nortons tends to rely on live update to do everything. also for 2002 and earlier versions you need to run liveupdate manually to get all the updates. this is one reason i like AVG's way of doing things. you can simply download the whole program and its fully upto date and patchs can be stored on cd. |

| 224762 | 2004-03-24 23:32:00 | while AVG is certainly less bulky than nortons i would still prefer nortons over AVG free. AVG dosn't seem to repair some virus's very well and dosn't have features like script blocking etc. the paid ver of AVG ......i have no idea, tho i like the idea of linux and server versions. rule of thumb is any upto date free ver is better than a paid but out of date ver. |
