224769 2004-03-24 03:48:00 Recently I had a system crash and had Office 97 Professional installed at the time.

After the unit returned from the doctor's, it had a version of Office 2000 installed but without the programs being complete. (Powerpoint, Access etc).

Are there benefits of upgrading to Microsoft Office XP Professional with SP2 (complete with Powerpoint, etc) or should I stay with 2000 and instal a full version over the current one?

Cheers

Word 2000 (9.0.2720)
Excel 2000 (9.0.2720)
Access 2000 (9.0.2720)
PowerPoint 2000 (.0.2716)

If you have the Office 2000 CD (and I am assuming you do) just load the programs you have not already installed.

The unit came back from the repairers with the new suite on board, hence not able to re-install with all the extra files. Will Have to get a disk to do the job!

224775 2004-03-24 05:59:00 I'm pretty liberal with my view on software but that just takes the cake. metla (154)
224776 2004-03-24 06:59:00 Gary, as you have probably gathered from the responses by now, you have illegal software on your computer through no fault of your own .

If you wish to stay within the law you are going to have to either buy a copy of Office 2000 or Office XP or get rid of the Office 2000 and revert back to your original Office 97 . You will not be able to "stay" with the Office 2000 currently installed but it sounds like you are not planning to anyway .

Regarding which Office version to "upgrade" to it depends on what programs you normally use . You will probably find that the price of Office XP is close to the price of Office 2000 so pick out the version that has the programs you require .

One other thing to note is the recommended system requirements of the version you are looking at - usually upgrading requires more grunt otherwise things can get unbearably slow on older machines .

224777 2004-03-24 07:05:00 $5000 a pop for dobbing in someone selling software... Surely a shop wouldn't do something as blatant as that??
