225064 2004-03-25 07:32:00 Recently I bought a brand new, 2-disk game . On my computer, neither disk works, and the first disk isnt even reconised by my CD drive . I have tried my CD on another computer, and it works fine on it .

Normally I would say that my CD drive was Broken, but it reconisied and played every other CD we own, with no trouble .

What is wrong, and why cant I play my game?

The version of Windows is . . . . . ?

Does that include other games CDs?

What are the system specs of your computer?

What is the game you are trying to play?

225066 2004-03-25 08:19:00 could be some sort of new copy-protection your drive cant handle maybe... agent_24 (4330)
225067 2004-03-25 08:20:00 when "they" first brought out those special copy-protected music CD's,
i think some drives/players had trouble reading them......

225068 2004-03-25 09:08:00 Im running windows 2000

The game is Mechwarrior 4: Vengance

Other games work on the computer, including Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries

The speck of my system are:
70 Gig harddrive
2 Gigerhertz Processor
500 megs ram
Gforce 4 vid card

Every game we owns works fine, and its an origional version, not a copy of the game

225069 2004-03-26 03:30:00 It's not a Macintosh only version of the game? :D Graham L (2)
225070 2004-03-26 07:53:00 No its definatly a Windows version Ron Bakker (356)
225071 2004-03-28 07:26:00 as i said before, and it might sound stupid, but my theory is that your CD drive and that CD dont like each other.

it has happend before, and i daresay it will happen again....

if anyone has read the README.TXT that comes with Age Of Mythology, you will notice that there is a section dedecated to CD-ROM problems, in particular, some CDroms that have trouble with the "original CD validation", eg: the factory-made - shop-bought CD is in the drive, and yet the game just says "please insert the age of mythology CD-ROM and press OK". sometimes the readme says - upgrade the CDrom drivers, sometimes, the firmware - other times it will say there are no know solutions. In my opinion that could be what is wrong. try upgrading the drive's firmware or something. failing that - go yell at the people you bought the game off an demand a refund or something...
