Its in the correct slot, I did one of these last night...

Ive taken the CPU out and put it in another PC we have here. Doesnt POST.

Put the Good CPU from another PC into this new one and it wont POST.

225027 2004-03-25 05:43:00 reset the bios.

if that dosn't help then i would say you have a dead mobo and cpu.

have you swapped psu's ??

225028 2004-03-25 05:43:00 I'm thinking it is the CPU also, if it was something else then the POST wil still happenbut it would be stopped by the fault and it would beep, the fact that you are getting nothing seems to me that the CPU aint working. Also are you sure you have ALL the motherboard power connectors connected? With later boards there is a second power connector that needs to be plugged in to the mother board before it will work. The plug usually looks like a four hole square tallish plug. If you board does require this and the PSU doesn't have the plug coming from it then you will need to get an adapter for your PSU. 225029 2004-03-25 05:57:00 I would also check how the motherboard is mounted and double check all of the pc speaker & led connectors.

If you have more than one of these are you able to test the CPU & RAM in another system?

225031 2004-03-25 07:23:00 Sounds like both are blown, probably static electricity, or a short somewhere.

Some AMD boards also require a second power feed directly into the board through a specific shaped plug.
