225524 2004-03-27 20:33:00 Did someone here say that Xandros was available on a PC MAg cover cd? I wont mention the name of the Mag but I have searched high and low without success. Is it on back issue? Any ideas?

225527 2004-03-27 22:06:00 Hi.
hey - only thing - its only the "standard" edition - and it is quite limited:
See here:
www.xandros.com

The main biggy:
"Xandros Desktop OS Standard Edition does not include CodeWeavers CrossOver Office or Plugin so you are not able to run any Windows compatible applications on Xandros Desktop"

I guess theres no such thing as a free lunch :(

225528 2004-03-27 23:06:00 Um ... not mentioning any names, but the magazine and issue in question is this one (www.pcauthority.com.au). ;-)

As fergie has mentioned, it is the standard edition (see his link).

225529 2004-03-27 23:08:00 Yeah, I did :)

It's on the cover CD of PC Authority (April Issue) which generally comes out in late March so it will be in a store near you soon.

It is onlt the "standard" edition (without Crossover Office) but that's no surprise as Crossover costs US$60 and big deal, unless you NEED to use a Windows app (in which case you are probably earning money using it so you can pay for Crossover :) ) then it is still an easy to use mature Linux desktop (Debian based woot woot!)

But it is FREE (as in no finanacial outlay:) )

So yeah, I'll be checking it out but doubt it will turn me away from Libranet (http://www.libranet.com) which is an awesome distro.
