225505 2004-03-27 19:33:00 Hiya all, I come here quite often - every day actually - I generally find that the quality of assistance given to folks is very good . Hey theres a lot of people out there in computer land who love to take the time to read a post, think about it, and throw their two cents worth into the mix . Often things get fixed and in good spirit . HOWEVER - occasionally someone brings personalities in to the posts . Now I have issue with one person in particular who seems to like 'dogging' me at every turn cause they got their nose outta joint or something . Whiskeytangofoxtrot .

I'm getting discouraged . I really enjoy helping folks freely from the goodness of my heart and I have the willingness to read and learn about computer related stuff here and elsewhere and try to apply that information to their benefit . I do this because it gives me pleasure .

Whiskeytangofoxtrot removes that pleasure . Whenever I see his 'handle' in a post appearing after one of mine I get nervous and suspect that they are probably haveing a go at me again - and I"m usually right !!!

Hey this forum is here and works because people like to come and learn/help etc well I WAS one of those but I'm being dogged by this person who seems to enjoy trying to make me and my efforts look silly and innefectual and generally putting me down . . . . . . . . I dont come here for that . . . . . and if it dont stop well I will not be coming here much at all and I HAVE helped quite a few people here and got much pleasure from it .

Kinda stupid and sad aint it . . . . . . . . . . . .

225506 2004-03-27 20:50:00 I completely agree, it seems that whenever we try to have a sensible discussion, someone has to come in and get nasty. It really is quite sad. robert6655 (5176)
225507 2004-03-27 23:34:00 Me thinks thou doth protest too much

The silence often, of pure innocence persuades, when speaking fails

There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.

225509 2004-03-28 03:02:00 God it's like a primary school playground... mummy the mean man on the internet isn't being nice so I'm going to write a thread and hope the mods notice.

Incidentally this thread _is_ a personal attack so you are in breach of the rules (as you were in the thread in question).

I'll quote myself for those that have joined this thread without seeing the other one:

<quote>
You'd be lucky if I had posted in maybe three threads you've been involved in.

I challenged your suggestion, and chastised you for ridiculing Jim B's post. At no time did I stoop to your level and start throwing around childish insults of a PERSONAL nature. It's quite easy to see who is the bigger person here.

If you can't handle having your opinions challenged then I suggest you unplug your internet and return to something safer like Indoor Bowls. This is the internet it's a public environment, people are going to have differing opinions to you, build a bridge and get over it. There is no need to go running off to hide behind the skirts of the moderators.

Might I refer you to the rules which prohibit personal attacks.

If you can justifiably voice an opposition against my opinions or technical postings then by all means go ahead, I'm more than adult enough to handle it - but there is no need to resort to personal jibes. I don't individually attack you, I challenge your opinions - grow up.

I corrected your english maybe two or three times. It didn't get personal, see the post above.

"but not as often now"

I think you'd be very hard pressed to find the last time I said anything at all in relation to one of your posts.

225512 2004-03-28 05:39:00 Hmmm . . . . . . .

I sympathise drcspy, we all have our crosses to bear, but don't let small minds or warped personalities drive you away from PF1, there are plenty of good people who appreciate your advice and the best reward is the satisfaction of knowing you have helped someone . Critics are there to be ignored .

This forum in particular attracts a broad cross-section of society, the good, the bad and the downright ugly, so count yourself lucky that there are only three individuals who seem to take exception to your good work . If you check their stats, you will find that although they do offer constructive advice from time to time, they have a much higher number of posts critical of others than anybody else .

However, as I said in a previous post, it is good for a dog to have few fleas, it stops him worrying about being a dog; so look upon their posts as light entertainment . They are more likely to be driven by envy than anything else, and I feel genuinely sorry for anybody who goes through life with such an unhappy and antagonistic attitude .

Post padding seems to be their bete-noir, but their own pursuit of that imaginary crime leads them to commit exactly the same sin that they profess to abhor .

Kinda appropriate when you think about it . :D

Hoisted by their own petard . :^O

Cheers

So should I ignore this critical post?

Criticism is just one of many possible forms of feedback designed to help individuals improve themselves for if one is not criticised, how will one learn of the need to improve or lift the game?

Your own post could easily apply to yourself, however you elect to stealthily veil your criticisms, be they of character or otherwise, behind a veil of obscure english and foreign words - does it make you any better or does it make you worse than those who will speak directly?

225514 2004-03-28 06:01:00 Ok, I have been using the Internet for about 8 years now aprox(& I have been using ADSL for 4 years now aprox)

And I have only been posting on forums (different once (& more then one) since 2002) .

Now for the newbe out there on Press F1 & for other people who are unsure about this as well

I have an idea what Post padding means, but it seem to me it differs on different forums .

Now can any one in newbe terms (so the newbes & other people who are unsure about this as well) explain what "Post padding" is???
