225490 2004-03-27 10:03:00 Just confirming it is safemode. Does it have "safe mode" written in each corner?

Just that if the graphics driver stuffs up, it can be the basic windows driver and it looks like safe mode. (probably same driver).

225492 2004-03-28 05:27:00 hi,pheonix-there is no 'safe mode'in each corner but I guessed it was because the main page is 'low colour'& it all looks like safe mode type windows.
I followed that link whiskeytangofoxtrot-but I could not even find the 'msdos.sys' file on the 'find' program.
very frustrated rdee

you need to install your video card drivers.

225494 2004-03-28 05:38:00 If it hasn't got "Safe Mode" in the corners, then it isn't Safe Mode.

As Phoenix said, it sounds in that case like you are missing a graphics driver, or have some settings incorrect.

Try going to Control Panel --> Display --> Advanced and checking that your colour settings are up above 256 colours.

Also have a look in Device Manager (Control Panel --> System --> Device Manager) and see if your video card (display adapter) appears to have drivers installed.

225495 2004-03-28 09:04:00 Hi rdee, it is as the others have said, you are actually in windows correctly, it just looks bad.
If you right click "my computer" and choose properties from the menu that pops up. Click on the Device manager tab. Look down the list and click on the + next to display adaptor. This will tell you what type of video card you have, note it down. Now highlight it and down the bottom, click on the "remove" button. Restart your PC and let windows re-detect the video card.
Nine times out of ten , this fixes the problem.
