| 225292 | 2004-03-26 20:30:00 | Recently we connected to Jetstream. We purchased a DSE ADSL Router, and plugged it in and set it up. Before Jetstream was actually connected, it functioned perfectly well as a network switch, the only problem being WinXP didn't like the IP range 192.168.1.x, so I manually changed it so the router was 192.168.0.1, and the 2 PCs to 192.168.02. and 192.168.0.3. This solved the network problem, and I could resume using file/printer sharing etc. Then Jetstream was connected. I retained the same settings on both PCs (to grab an IP from the DHCP on the router), but one decided to grab a strange IP address along the lines of 125.183.43.92, so I manually set that to 192.168.0.3 to make it able to access the internet. The problem is, my home network still does not work. The IP addresses are: Router: 192.168.0.1, PC1: 192.168.0.2, PC2: 192.168.0.3, subnet masks alll 255.255.255.0. Any ideas? |

| 225294 | 2004-03-26 20:56:00 | does not work covers a lot of sins can they see each other on the network is each one able to access the internet through the router check the work group make sure they belong to same work group Do any or all of the pcs use a software firewall (Dont forget xp has its own built in) if so check their settings. These are the first things that spring to mind on my first cup of coffee |

| 225295 | 2004-03-26 22:50:00 | I had the same problem but darned if I can remember exactly how I fixed it. :-( I know that I ran the Win XP Network Wizard which stuffed all my settings up so I had to go back and reset them and after that it worked! :O Try using 192.168.1.1 for the router and 192.168.1.2, 192.168.1.3, etc for the other PCs again. I do know that my network didn't like that prior to ADSL coming online but after I got connected it accepted it. It was weird. |

| 225297 | 2004-03-27 00:55:00 | Did you have internet sharing enabled before installing the new ADSL router? If so check it is turned off. Also you may need to run the network setup wizard to reconfigure net access via the LAN. |

You were right - yes - I had set the "Allowed IP" range different before I had ADSL. Thanks for your help. |

The IP addresses are: Router: A nonsensical IP like that (or more commonly I think it was 169.254.x.x) is as a result of Windows not successfully DHCPing. Tried doing ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew from the command line etc. |
