225710 2004-03-29 21:51:00 Someone said I should order the Woosh Ethernet cable, when I set it up? so that it plugs into the router, and then the 2 pcs and the mac plug into the router?

Here's a diagram ( . neoburn . net/imagef1/files/Diagram" target="_blank">sal . neoburn . net(2) . png) of how my friend reckons I should set it up .

What's the costs of getting a network card for the other pc and mac?

225711 2004-03-29 22:10:00 Just find out from someone here who knows what a woosh ethernet cable is. It might just be a standard cat5 cable or crossover cable that woosh charge way too much for!

The diagram looks about right. Network cards a damn cheap these days. I might even have one lying around you can have :)

Have a read through the manual for your router, I think I might have seen something in there which says 'only use the WAN cable that came with your router' or something similiar. Check that out. If it does say that, I guess you can still try and see if it works.

The woosh ethernet cable is rather unique. It has this special adapter thing which connects to the woosh modem, and the other end is RJ45 connector which will fit into a normal network card, or that router's WAN port.

225713 2004-03-30 05:07:00 I always thought Woosh couldn't be networked without a great deal of fiddling around... I stand to be corrected though.

Lo.

You would think so, but I found it much easier to network woosh (with router) than setting up ADSL with a router. Doesn't take longer than 5mins really.

225716 2004-03-30 10:54:00 So I will need to order a Woosh ethernet cable from them?

I'm looking at buying the Woosh Modem, ethernet cable, and network cards, right?

A friend who is moving overseas has given me his two 15m cables, for networking - hope these work! I think they are CAT5 cables .

Just making sure - because one PC is an Apple, this doesn't matter? The CAT5 cable will fit into that? And the network card will work with it?

yup

yup if they are normal straight-through cables (no crossover).

yup again. Should be instructions in the manual on the cd for setting all this up.

I assume you haven't done much networking before? You must have, otherwise you wouldn't have that router?

Anyway piece of cake, stop worrying about it :)

What CD? The router's cd?

Well, I got that router when I moved out of my parents home, because the new place had a ADSL modem. Since my PC was a bit far away from the Home PC (but in direct sight of the PC), I didn't really want to have cables all over the place - so I got wireless networking. Took me about two or three days to get it up and running (had some help from cyabro)!! But it worked well.
