| 225700 | 2004-03-28 21:01:00 | Hi guys, I'm moving to a new flat near the city, that has Woosh available (checked on the woosh website etc), and we have decided to get it, since it will be better for us . If we use the phone line, we will have to take turns at using the internet (and put up with a slow connection), and we don't want to do that - we'd rather use it whenever we want to . So I think that one PC (mine for example) will be connected to Woosh, and I'm wondering how to set up network with the other two computers . I have a Belkin wireless router and hub - could that be used to network with one PC? And the other computer is a Mac, can I network it to my PC using cable? cheers, caffy |

Then we can probably check if it has a RJ45 WAN port on the back of it, and it supports PPPoE. Best way to share it is to use a router with four port switch and 802.11g wireless if you need that. Mac will work with an ethernet cable directly from the modem, or if you have a router its even easier to set up. Also when you are setting it up, tell me if you like attaching the booster antenna to the modem ;) |

Specs ( . dealtime . co . uk/xPF-Belkin_Wireless_Cable_DSL_Gateway_Router_F5D6231UK" target="_blank">www . dealtime . co . uk 4) . I'll keep looking if there's better specs given on another website . |

| 225704 | 2004-03-29 08:28:00 | I kinda need a pic of the back of the router, to see the ports on it. Can you tell me if it uses an RJ45 port that has WAN written on it? |

Also it supports PPPoE to make the connection so you should be sweet with that router. You can ring up the helpdesk to get it going if you have trouble. I think you may have to input some MTU setting of 1458 in, rest is pretty straightforward. Have you thought about getting helix (www.helix.net.nz) up in Auckland? Heard its a lot better than woosh, due to no lag, no download limits, and up to 2MB connection all for $80. |

| 225706 | 2004-03-29 08:56:00 | here's a pic (sal.neoburn.net) of the back of the router. it says (from left to right): 4, 3, 2, 1 above each port, and above those numbers it says LAN. Then the remaining port says Internet/WAN. I am not sure if they are RJ45 ports? |

| 225707 | 2004-03-29 09:12:00 | Can a standard Cat5 network cable fit into the WAN port? | PoWa (203) | ||
| 225708 | 2004-03-29 09:18:00 | I have no idea what that is, actually! :) | caffy (2665) | ||
| 225709 | 2004-03-29 21:12:00 | Hey Caffy, That router should be sweet. It has a 4 port 10/100 hub as well as wan port which does take a standard cat5 cable so woosh modem should plug straight in. Might need to talk to woosh about what settings to put into it though :) It aslo has a built in firewall. |
