226387 2004-04-01 02:21:00 I have mentioned this before.
When I use XP Prof on line (DSE Router ADSL) any file operations become very sluggish until I either switch off the Router or Deactivate the Port.
This does not happen with ME on the same machine, with the same settings.
It drives me mad, if I want to tranfer an attachment to my Email it takes for ever unless I go off line first. All Mail & Browser operations are OK.

226388 2004-04-01 05:21:00 is this using ethernet? ilikelinux (1418)
226389 2004-04-01 13:08:00 Built in Ethernet adaptor SIS900 to DSE ADSL Ethernet Router.
Norton 2003 Anti Virus & Sygate Fire wall.
It is a real pain when I am working on Websites, going off & on line every time I want to edit a file.

ME works fine but has a tendency to save file names in Upper case for some reason, also insists on putting in the full path of graphics which have to be removed before uploading to the Net. XP is OK in this respect.

226390 2004-04-01 20:40:00 hav u tried stoopping the firewall as it is no longer needed with the router.

does ME have a firewall?

226391 2004-04-02 10:33:00 Makes no difference with or with out the Firewall. (ME has Zone Alarm)

The Sygate firewall tells me that "Windows Explorer" & "Power Desk" are trying to get to the Internet, they don't work until they have tried.

"ndis.sys" also seems to be very busy trying to get out. Any idea what it is?
I have scanned with Adaware and found a couple of bugs but no change.

226392 2004-04-02 14:34:00 All fixed :)

I removed every sign of Sygate Fire Wall & installed Zone alarm instead.
No hang ups now. Just switching off Sygate didn't work, it had to be removed.
