226819 2004-04-02 23:59:00 The Office products supplied with each version of Office seems to change with each version but assuming you are comparing a version with Excel, Word and Access (for example) the difference between 2000 and XP would be mainly "ease of use" with an updated interface. 226820 2004-04-03 02:50:00 One major difference which I don't like is the clip gallery. You can't use the clipart from previous versions with it and it's hard to find the graphics you want. You can't just browse all pictures like in previous versions.

226821 2004-04-03 04:47:00 also check out Office 2003. A much smoother and better interface and with several extra features. I haven't delved to in depth with my copy yet but it seems a hell of a lot nicer than 2000 and XP. I have both here also and they won't be going back onto this machine.
PS if you have student ID then you can grab the professional edition of 2003 for about $300 till the end of April.

That is an excellent point, Lucy. I have had to install both Office 97 and Office XP in separate folders and use Office 97 in order to access its clipart.

226823 2004-04-03 09:33:00 Hi Susan
I didn't install both versions of office to use old clip gallery .

I just copied the whole clip gallery folder from another computer running Office 2000 (program files\microsoft shared\artgalry) to my computer calling it "old clip gallery" .

I then imported the clips from the win2000, publisher 98 CD (all burnt onto 1 cd) and it runs fine .

The only thing to remember is that you have to have the CD in the drive or it won't find any of the clips and of course you can't use the insert clipart button from within programs . I have a shortcut to cag . exe on desktop and just use the paste function to insert art into documents .

Try it, it will save you having to have both versions of office installed on your machine .

226826 2004-04-04 03:28:00 Hi LucyL

I reinstalled Office2000, then put the clipart onto a CD, and then I added the clipart to Office XP. Unfortunately the clipart does not now have the 'keyworks' as original - making searching pretty difficult! Do you have any hints as what I did wrong, or what I could do to rectify the situation.

226827 2004-04-04 05:56:00 Hi RM

What you probably did was to import the individual clips rather than import the catologs .

Click on "Iimport Clips" and in the box labelled "File types" instead of "All Pictures" as is the default choose "Clip Gallery Catologs" .

The key words will then be imported and your gallery will be searchable .

You will have to delete those that you have already imported or they will be included twice - once as part of catologues and again as unsorted clips .

Hope this helps you sort things out .

Cheers Lucy
