226505 2004-04-01 07:12:00 Hi all.
Just got me a new game - Lock on Modern Air combat - I LOVE IT.

Only thing - my 4 yr old joystick ain't up to it anymore - time for a new one.
Whats teh best these days (ain't been following them much)

And are force feedback ones any good (or more importantly - are they worth the extra $$)
Cheers

226506 2004-04-01 08:20:00 Try this one (www.ascent.co.nz), my friend has one and I've seen it in action on Desert Combat. Looks very slick.

Otherwise have a browse through the list here (www.ascent.co.nz)

226507 2004-04-01 08:50:00 There is a demo of Lock On Air Combat on the April PC Authority which I promply installed. Looks really impressive although my celeron 1.7GHz maybe a bit slow for a really impressive game. What are the specs of your machine? Dolby Digital (160)
226508 2004-04-01 09:33:00 Hi.
My PC:
AMD 1800 xp (which is only 1.53ghz)
768mb DDR 333mhz ram
Ati Radeon 9600xt 256mb

So yeah - its not the worst pc (tho its not the best either!)
BUt i think RAM plays a VERY important part in running this game smoothly.
It runs fine on my pc - only when i have the chase view and cycle around, it can jerk a bit - but when i'm inside cockpit its fine.

Its a great game - really realistic - i mean flying the A10 warthog is nothing like flying it in BF: DC!

But i really need another joystick - only has 4 buttons (and the game has 5 pages of buttons!) and the throttle doesn't work...
Also - i'm wanting some rudder pedals - can you get this separatley?

O - and $235 in prob a fit to much! more like teh $120 max

Opps, sorry.
Should have read:

Oh, and the $235 joystick is probably a bit to much! I'm thinking $120 max

226511 2004-04-01 10:15:00 Well that joystick I posted earlier, thats the force feedback version. The normal version without FF is only $120ish... Look on the site PoWa (203)
226512 2004-04-03 05:02:00 I ordered a Logitech Wireless Joystick yesterday, should be here Monday morning. About $125 from www.ascent.co.nz/index.asp. I'm told they are very good. Mine is to play MS Flight Simulator 2004.
