227054 2004-04-04 04:25:00 I am using an Ethernet/USB/ADSL modem Router.
I use so I did not get stuck with modem driver problems in linux.

Do I still have to use a firewall "Zone alarm" .

227057 2004-04-04 23:00:00 I presume this modem/router has NAT. Are you using the ethernet connection or USB?

227058 2004-04-05 08:37:00 Ethernet connection. Dont laugh but what is NAT ??? Piet (1988)
227059 2004-04-05 09:08:00 Network Address Translation

basicly converts it from your ip addy on the net to your network ip addy. bonus here is that it provides some incoming protection.

however reguardless if you have NAT or not you still require something (personally firewall) to control whats accessing the net from your pc.

227061 2004-04-05 09:48:00 Good firewalls: Kerio and Sygate are recommended as is ZoneAlarm, although the latter does have its antagonists. Susan B (19)

If you have no idea what a firewall does, and how to use it properly then use zonealarm .

Kerio, and others like it, are more for the advanced user . . .

227063 2004-04-06 07:41:00 Kerio, and others like it, are more for the advanced user... well I just installed kerio and found that too be Oh so true LOL.
Back To ZA.
Do I select ADSL as my connection type {when I install ZA} or something else because I am using a router ???
