226998 2004-04-03 22:42:00 How do I get hotmail as an account in my Outlook page?.
I have searched press F1 but the posts dont come up with a definitive answer. They seem to fizzle out into the" I have hotmail on outlook etc ha ha "but dont tell you how. I tried in OE tools accounts mailtab add mail and so on through the wizard. It thens gets scary because I think this option is not adding another account but wrecking the one thats is used to connect.
Can anyone help please, I would like to know if it is possible wether doing the wizard will cause carnage ie destroy the dialing out account.

thanks

227000 2004-04-03 23:17:00 Are you wanting to add Hotmail as an account in Outlook or Outlook Express? I am not familiar with Outlook so am not certain that you can add Hotmail accounts in it.
To add a Hotmail account in Outlook Express use the Wizard to add a new account and specify that you want a HTML account rather than POP3. You then enter your Hotmail address and password, etc. OE will create the new account then ask if you wish to download the folders and messages.
It will not affect your POP3 account at all.

227002 2004-04-03 23:37:00 I've got Outlook 2003, and although I don't use it I checked out the new account options under Tools, and it can quite clearly create an http hotmail account. So if 2000 is similar, just roughly follow the setup described for Outlook Express above. Greg S (201)

support.microsoft.com - I don't think this will work with Outlook 2000 though.

227004 2004-04-03 23:47:00 You did say you had Outlook 2000 and you will also have Outlook Express as Outlook needs this to be installed to operate.

Have a look at the links I sent it gives a method of setting up Hotmail in Outlook 2000 but it would be easier to just use Outlook Express for this.

227005 2004-04-03 23:49:00 Sorry Jim, I posted one of the same links as yourself as I did not see your reply until afterwards. tommy (2826)
227006 2004-04-03 23:54:00 No problem
Personally I don't think it is worth the trouble, easier just to use Outlook Express or just use Hotmail from the website.

227007 2004-04-03 23:55:00 Thanks tommy I had seen this help but it doesnt work as is common with most ms help.
It gets as far as right click outlook today and click new folder as per normal I dont have that option.
the options I have by right clicking outlook today are:

open
advanced find
remove from outllook
rename shortcut
properties

NO new folder option

Does anyone here have the new folder option?
