| 1337867 | 2013-04-21 11:57:00 | www.stuff.co.nz It's the first instance of it happening here, but as per my opinion on FB, how does one police something when it is freely available on the internet, with no indication that the content may or may not be illegal in your country, when images uploaded are tagged by the users so even for users with blacklists for images of that type the potential to view it is still there? (copy paste my fb response) If you frequent any japanese porn site, it is often very hard to avoid. Gelbooru, thedoujin and pixiv are both incredibly popular sites with western audiences. When someone uploads an image, it is up to the users to tag them, so unless someone has done so it is not even possible to block them. Child porn? Fair enough. But this? No. I would imagine that in this case the jury has said 'look he diddled a kid so he's a child molester and this is child porn' but that really shouldn't be the link these people make. Japan has low instances of child abuse and this stuff is everywhere over there, so if anything it could be viewed as a positive way of diverting these people if there is any sort of link at all. But, I would imagine if you asked a number of child molesters if they thought lolicon was hot, you'd probably get a sizable number of 'no's'. What do you guys think? Of the content and the legality n junk? |

They're very cheaply made, poorly animated (this is the stuff on TV I'm referring to), and seem to have themes of constant battles, and displaying females as minskirted, round eyed fluff in cheerleader costumes. As for taking that dross to the next level and making it porn... well none of it is to my tastes, and it does seem to have paedo undertones, but to convict a guy for watching a cartoon that actually has mainstream appeal and can be made and viewed with immunity in Japan? That sort of action begins to make us look as closed-minded and knee-jerk as the radical Muslim groups that imprison women behind burkahs and shoot girls for going to school. If the guy didn't have a prior conviction his viewing of this fantasy stuff would never have raised any alarms. IT's the PC world gone nuts once again. |

| 1337872 | 2013-04-22 12:35:00 | well the last one i heard of was a collector of the doujinshi over in america (that's the comics and graphic novels that you read backwards). He had tens of thousands of books, and some of them had lolicon in them, despite being a complete minority in a collection that was massive and incredibly eclectic. He still got a long time in jail, even without any prior convictions. I mean yeah sure the japanese often do some odd stuff by western standards, but I don't think it's the peadophile creating monstrosity that governments seem to be making it out to be. The 3d realistic ones perhaps, but stylised cartoons? That's pushing it a bit too far. |
