1337455 2013-04-22 00:03:00 I just find it amazing that after 9yrs as previous govt, they now feels it is necessary to drop power charges?...perhaps if they are successful, they charge will return to the levels they were when Labour got in, some 72% cheaper?

Wonder how many peasants will be sucked into this one?

I still say that no one is worth that.

The CEO of Heinz in the USA gets $36 million for selling baked beans!

I say sack them all and re-advertise their jobs starting at 100K.

I have always wanted to do such figures

So thanks for that.

(I hope you did not use an excel spreadsheet - ha ha)

$56 bucks a year is not a lot.

Cheers Digby . Excel is my friend!!! :)

It just goes to show (to my mind) that people getting upset about how much someone is earning (yes, I saw your post above, so I include you here! :D) are possibly only getting upset because there is no way most people could possibly earn that amount . It does seem a little obscene in comparison to someone earning minimum wage, but the people earning the big bucks probably have a few more qualifications and relevant experience for the role than the minimum wage earner . If they didn't the employer wouldn't have hired them in the first place .

I'm a contractor/consultant, and I make a very good living (compared to the average minimum wage-earner), but it's because I have specialist knowledge, experience and skills and am doing a job that is fairly niche (not a lot of quality competition) that enables me to command a good rate .

Charge what the market will bear!! Why would I sell myself short and charge myself out at half the going rate? No employer would look at me if I applied for the specialist work that I do and said I would do the job for half the market rate - there's credibility on the line here . And my next job (as a contractor) will depend on my performance in this one, so I have a vested interest to work damn hard to ensure I maintain a good reputation and get a good reference . . .

If everyone earned the same, there would be little incentive to work hard or gain qualifications . And that's called communism . Look how well that ended!!!
