1359181 2013-12-10 07:06:00 What I do dislike about new windows releases, and it's happened every time to some degree, is when MS changes how to access common functions apparently just for the sake of changing it and in some cases renames it as well. Then leaves you no clue as to where or how to find these functions. Every release I've ended up researching how to do something I already knew how to do with the previous version, windows 8 just did more of this than usual and has a bigger degree of relearning. An example is the backup & restore feature, it's still there in windows 8 but cunningly hidden away in an (to me) obscure place and amusingly still has "windows 7" in the name.
So very true and something I used to find extremely annoying. One good one was "Add Remove Programs" became "Programs and Features" for no real reason.

To be fair, did anyone ever use that to add programs? (And I don't mean Windows-included ones)

With XP It had Add Remove programs. When it changed to Programs and Features it named them as they were, Programs listed / removed - and features on the left.

In XP following the same line, it could have actually been Add remove Programs and Components. The Components portion was renamed to features.

1359186 2013-12-11 01:30:00 Well it seems to me that Microsoft and their disciples can’t get their head around the fact that not everybody likes, or are prepared to relearn everything ever time Microsoft has a whim to change Windows.

It seems others have cottoned on, because in amongst the Spam this morning was a notice from Ashampoo advising that they are now providing a Shell that will make XP 7 & 8 all perform in the same manner.

Could be useful, I guess time will tell. :D

and what does that tell you. The majority don't like the new system. :)

You're doing it wrong ;) several times I've used it to turn Hyper-V on and Internet Explorer off.
