1359033 2013-11-06 21:38:00 I have been searching on the internet for hours trying to find a solution for this.
I have seen many similar posts but doing the suggested has not been able to fix my problem yet.

I want to be able to use drag-and-drop to have Excel automatically fill the lower cells in increments.

For example I enter:
1
2

When I drag the fill handle I want to get:
1
2
3
4
5

What I get:
1
2
2
2
2

Basic PC specs:
I have Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2007.

Additional information:
This spreadsheet was able to do this previously.
I can still drag-and-drop in increments within other spreadsheets.
Other computers are also unable to make this spreadsheet's drag-and-drop function to automatically increment values.

What I have tried so far:
1. Select two cells and drag the fill handle.
2. Hold ctrl and drag the fill handle.
3. Went to "Excel Options", selected "Advanced" and made sure "Enable fill handle and cell drag-and-drop" was enabled.
4. Went to "Formula" tab, selected "Calculation Options" and made sure it was set to "Automatic"

The above have fixed the problem for other users but this has not yet fixed my own issue.

I have tried everything I can find on the internet so far.

Any additional methods would be greatly appreciated.

Exactly what I was going to suggest. You are likely to get the result you are getting if the cells are formatted as text...

1359036 2013-11-06 23:07:00 depending on the excel version either edit - fill - series does what you want or,
if A1 has the value "1" in A2 put the formula = A1+1 then fill down and that works too.

Otherwise maybe you are using a feature I don't?

1359037 2013-11-07 03:35:00 Are you using multipe cells to establish a sequence when you drag down? In your example select the dragging point on No1 cell, drag through No2 cell (numbers will display for both), and then on to No3 which should automatically number. I use excell infrequently and have been in this situation a couple of times. PPp (9511)
1359038 2013-11-07 04:17:00 just replicated what you wrote .

To get the
1
2
3
4
etc

Lets say 1 is in A1 & 2 is in A2

click Cell A1 Hold Down SHIFT - Click Cell A2 This will then select both Cells, drag down the "handle" and they should fill in 3,4,5, 6 etc

Notice Both Cells are selected, if you only select #2 then yes you get 2's all the way down
