| 1337472 | 2013-04-19 03:27:00 | I don't care what they do with their money and their land but I damn will DO care about taking more money from the govt on top of the settlements... The way things are I will never be able to buy a house in Christchurch, but you don't see the govt helping us. The quakes has pushed up the rental markets to record levels along with the buying levels also, its NOT just the people that lost houses that are affected by this its all of us, so where is the help for the rest of us? |

| 1337473 | 2013-04-19 03:34:00 | Is $2.6 mill that much? Damn, I can't believe I just typed that. I wouldn't mind 5% of that... Still, I don't think $2.6 million is that great an amount compared to some government spending that goes on "white" people as well as Maori and everyone else. |

Its all non-maori who are being disadvantaged, so that's Asian, African, etc etc - every other non-maori racial group in NZ. Im in the same boat as DeSade, cant see myself owning my own home, and if it gets much worse you'll find me in a tent under a bridge somewhere. Might go join the biggest SI gang I think (Ngai Tahu). |

| 1337478 | 2013-04-19 06:41:00 | Taking Iantech's view one step further, it's only one tribe that is getting this deal, so you can't even say all the Maori Well do we know that? Frankly I'd never heard of the department allocating the money, so found this part of the story interesting: "The grant comes from the government social housing unit Te Wahanga Kainga Papori, which works with organisations that provide social and affordable housing, including not-for-profit, iwi, and private sector providers. Nationally the fund is allocated $104million from 2012-15. The Mangatawa grant represents 2.5 per cent of the total fund and comes from the Putea Maori fund, which sets aside $13million for developing Maori freehold or reserve land for housing." The bottom line however is the funding meets all the criteria to be called Racism and Apartheid. |
