| 227621 | 2004-04-06 04:18:00 | I use my system mostly for gaming, sometimes on-line. I do a lot of installing and un-installing, and I seem to get a lot of bugs that can be hard or impossible to get out. I'm using Windows 98 SE. Have been for years. But with all the anomillies I keep getting, I've been thinking of trying a newer OS. Whats the overall best OS around these days? | WILLWILLWILLWILL (236) | ||
| 227622 | 2004-04-06 04:36:00 | it all depends. THis thread may well turn into another Flame... But people have their own opinions and views. if you want to stick with Microsoft, i'd suggest XP, it is nice and user friendly. But then there is Linux which is for people who consider themselves more talented and like a challenge persay. Its anyones guess as to which is better. Cheers, MrBeef |

| 227623 | 2004-04-06 04:36:00 | Windows 2000 by far! Don't let anyone tell you XP, it's the devil! --Think of Windows ME, with a NT kernel. |

| 227629 | 2004-04-06 05:19:00 | XP is so far superior to WIN98 its redicules, especially when it comes to loading drivers and detecting hardware. Its also far more stable, and more resiliant when or if it does crash. Plus you have the common folder options for the new owners(people love these things,i swear)and more featured simpler networking(although it still has to be done manually at least half the time) It looks good, goes good,XP rocks. The downsides are it needs decent hardware to make it run like a crocodile sandwhich(snapyp),and because of the millions of morons attacking it,she needs to be made as secure as possible. I daily work on the MS os's,95,98 and Me are terrible, horrible compared to XP. As far as XP and win2000 are compared,People call XP w2000 with bells and whistles,Ill take those bells and whistles and multimedia capabilites any day. |
