227530 2004-04-06 03:19:00 Ah, i really should know this but i dont.

My current comp has a 4x AGP slot im looking at upgrading my graphics card to either a 9600XT or a FX5700, both of which are x4/x8 agp how much of a performance loss will i experience because of the difference??

ie running at x4 instead of x8??

227531 2004-04-06 04:41:00 maybe you could hit two birds with one stone with this one guys...

I've got the oposite. A 8x mobo, with a 2x/4x GF4 MX440.... consequently I don't have any video.

227532 2004-04-06 12:32:00 I have a mate who was running his GF 2 MX400 (its x4) in an x8 slot till he upgraded, so you should be sweet.

I bit the bullet and went with the FX5700, who cares how much performance im losing, frycry looks mint!!!

I don't think the 4/8x performance difference is huge. Esp. compared to the cost of a new mobo.

My R9000 is only 4x in an 8x slot. No problems. I have also booted (as far as POST) with a 2/4x TNT2.

They don't have the cards you are looking at but there are entries for older cards, eg GF4MX and GF4Ti.
