Not sure what Xtra have to do with this, apart from the fact they're an ISP.

I'll try spell it out... WHAT OTHER ISP's THAT OFFER THE NEW "SURF" ADSL PLANS COMPEL YOU TO HAVE A STATIC IP ADDRESS?

From your first post -
"This wasn't the case when I used Xtra for my full speed Jetstream"

This is quite common .

I thought you did not want a fixed IP would it be more use to know which ones have a dynamic IP

227527 2004-04-07 08:37:00 lol Greg! :^O Someone giving you the run-around huh. :p

You could try paradise, they are respectable. I've had dynamic IP with them on Jetstream. Not sure if the surf plans are any different.

Ring orcon, maybe they can give you a dynamic IP instead.

You could always use www.guardster.com for your anonymous forums, even lets you log in etc.

Dynamic IP has its valuable uses, I know :)

Despite the fact you've acted like a child the whole way through this thread, I'll respond.

The answer is most. The majority of ISP's use static IP address assignment for JetStream 256k and full-rate plans.

They are allocating a limited number of IP addresses assigned to them by Telecom and it is the easiest way for them to keep track of which addresses are in use or not in use at any given time.

The only ISP that doesn't do statics for JetStream 256 or Full that I know of off the top of my head is Xtra.
