2004-04-06 05:01:00 | not much luck here, I went to Xandros site and followed all of the troubleshooting advice there with no success at all. I was going to buy full version and instal next to XP. I have read that this would be an easier instal than the free version. As this instal is problematic (and chances are I am the problem) then I might have to give it a miss and wait to get the full version. I would need it anyway as I would still want to run MS office. Thanks for your help so far chill sam m

2004-04-06 08:54:00 | Had a similar problem loading xandros from pc authority mag tried several times but no go with results similar to yours. However i had a second copy (went out and bought a copy before my subscribed copy arrived) and this loaded without a hitch. Close examination of the first disk showed tiny scratches in a regular patteren around the outside of the disc.

2004-04-06 10:31:00 | Thanks Highlander, I hadnt considered that as a possible problem . I can see some light marks that I cant clean off but no more than light marks on other cd's I have but anything is possible . anyone in Hamilton with a copy I could try? i dont want this to beat me . I have tentatively ordered a full version from PBTech but I will not go ahead unless I can see at least this standard version working . Dont want to spend $100 for naught . cheers sam m

2004-04-06 10:35:00 | Just to let you know you are not the only one with this problem my disk also has lots of little scratchs on it and the disk will not load. I have sent an email to them asking if they would run this disk again in a future edition of the mag. i will let you know if they reply to me.

2004-04-06 10:51:00 | I am hoping that this is the only thing that is preventing instal as I am keen to really give this distro a go . Would appreciate it Glassman if you could let me know how you got on . I have studying my CD and do notice that there is some sort of text impression in the cd . I was also less than impressed in how the CD was packaged . 2 cd's in one sleeve . this is an aussie outfit right?

2004-04-06 13:09:00 | If the CD's are defective then they should be replaced, no need to wait for them to run it with another issue which, is unlikely anyway. The CD will be built in to the price of the mag, one way or another, you have paid for it. You are entitled to a replacement. Ask the retailer you bought it from for one or if you subscribe, the distributor. Serves you right anyway for buying a foreign rag ;) Cheers Murray P

2004-04-06 13:18:00 | Oy Chill. Swap you a Mepis set for one or maybe Ark. That's if you want to look at Mepis (they say the live CD is good as a fix it tool). Cheers Murray P PS: :O <-- yawn. Time to hit the hay.
