227900 2004-04-07 11:34:00 I have a problem which started intermittently but getting more frequent. Running WinXP Pentium 4 2.8GHz (800MHz FSB) Asus P4P800 Motherboard when I turn the computer on and when it is behaving itself the cd drive light always flashes about 3 times then I see the Asus splash screen then the Windows loading screen then it gets to the desktop very quickly. When I have problems the cd drive light keeps flashing, I get what appears to be the normal boot screens but after it gets to the widows loading screen the screen goes blank and it just sits there. As soon as I press the reset button it loads normally to the white on black screen with all the writing. I choose "load Windows normally" and it does. Tried system restore, made no difference. The computer is still under guarantee. Would appreciate any help offered. NZer (5495)

your problem sound like a hardware problem, being that the system is under guarantee i would just take it back and get them to fix it.

From what you describe I feel its a hardware related fault therefore I would in the first instance take it back and use the warrenty that was given to you. Remember if you remove the back, it may invalidate your warrenty
