IMPORTANT note the switching of the C and the V one is a virus the other is a part of windows. SVChost.exe is part of windows and is found on any windows XP system. it run system process and you will often have many copies running, 8 copies is about normal. Microsoft says "Svchost.exe is a generic host process name for services that are run from dynamic-link libraries (DLLs). " basicly this is how servies are run on you system, they are a good thing and should be left to do there thing. SCVhost.exe is part of a virus and you should get a virus scanner as soon as you can. The full info about this is "SCVhost.exe is added to the system as a result of the W32/Agobot-S virus that is an IRC backdoor Trojan and network worm. W32/Agobot-S copies itself to network shares with weak passwords and attempts to spread to computers using the DCOM Rcomputer and the Rcomputer locator vulnerabilities. " this basicly say its bad and should be removed as soon as you can. |

| 227746 | 2004-04-06 11:16:00 | something similar can be said about SBLhost.exe. It is also a virus that uses a similar name to Svchost.exe (a generic host process name for services that are run from dynamic-link libraries (DLLs).). | agent_24 (4330) | ||

| 227748 | 2004-04-06 12:27:00 | I have come across a system where the virus was \windows\svchost.exe, when the real one is \windows\system32\svchost.exe. The windows task manager doesn't list the path of the executable so it is hard to tell them apart without using a 3rd party application like TaskInfo2003. |
